Syrup
Is produced from raw sugar from sugar beet and sugar cane. However, it can also be derived, for example, from a mix of sugar and glucose.
Syrup is liquid and adds colour and flavour. Pale syrups are mild in taste, and the darker the syrup, the stronger the taste.
The colour varies from light and clear to yellow, brown and dark brown. Syrups are also available with flavour additives such as maple or honey.
Syrup has functional abilities such as promoting the fermentation in bread, giving baked goods a fine crust, and improving taste and shelf life.
Can be delivered both as conventional and organic.
