Antifoam is a defoaming agent used to prevent or reduce foam in various processes - industrial, chemical and biological. Antifoam comes in several variants, such as silicone-based, oil-based and water-based.
Antifoam is used in many industries. In the food industry, it helps control foam during fermentation, juice extraction, oil refining and cooking oil production. A common antifoam agent in food is E 900 (polydimethylsiloxane).
In the medical and cosmetics industry, antifoam is used in the production of medicine, creams, ointments and shampoos. Here, it prevents foam from interfering with consistency and quality.
