Double materiality provides overview and direction
We have conducted a double materiality analysis (DMA), which now forms the basis for how we continue to work with ESG – both on a daily basis and in the long term.
On 11 November, relevant employees from all departments met for an interdisciplinary workshop. Here, the consulting firm SustainX facilitated a structured process in which we identified the issues that are most important for us to prioritise going forward – both in relation to the business and the responsibility we have for the outside world.
It gives us peace of mind and direction now that we know where to focus our efforts. The analysis helps us to act in a concrete and responsible manner, says Lone Skov, ESG and Well-being Coordinator.
Clear direction for future work
With the DMA analysis as a starting point, we now have a clear framework for how we will work with ESG going forward. We are actively using it to set the direction, both strategically and operationally – across the entire company.
This applies to everything from prioritising initiatives to setting goals and following up. We have gained new knowledge and a common basis that makes it easier to make decisions and follow up in practice.
DMA also becomes the basis for reporting
Although we are not obliged to publish an ESG report, we have chosen to do so. We want to document our work and share how we work with sustainability – both internally and externally.
With the DMA analysis as a starting point, we have a strong foundation for the upcoming 2025 ESG report. It creates a direct link between what we actually do in our daily work and what we report. This ensures transparency and gives us a common thread from action to communication.
A tool with two angles
A double materiality analysis is a concrete tool for finding out what is most important to work with. What is special about the method is that it combines two perspectives:
- What matters to us as a business – financially, strategically and operationally.
- What matters to our surroundings – the environment, people and society.
This provides an overall picture of where we should prioritise our efforts – and makes it clear where we can create the most value with our time and resources.
