A good eye for CIP

Martin Jørgensen joined Procudan as a mechanical engineering trainee with a particular focus on CIP cleaning. Since February, he has been a project engineer with a broad job description.

When Martin Jørgensen started his internship as a mechanical engineer at Procudan in August last year, his professional focus was on the production facilities at Procudan Blends.

In particular, optimising the plant's CIP cleaning was high on his list of priorities, and it was also the subject of his final assignment in the training programme.

The challenge for the assignment itself was that there was a lack of up-to-date literature on the subject.

Therefore, Martin had to contact players in the industry to get the theory right.

- This made the assignment very topical and, at the same time, relevant to my internship at Procudan. I had the opportunity to gather know-how from our suppliers and other food productions, he explains.

CIP is short for cleaning in place. It refers to the cleaning system that is built into a production facility like Procudan Blends.

It's the safest way to prevent contamination, and as an intern, Martin was able to contribute to an area that is of great importance to Procudan.

Enjoying a broad job description

After successfully graduating from Fredericia School of Engineering, Martin was employed as a project engineer at Procudan in the spring. Here, his tasks are broad, so he is involved in many places in the production.

- I really enjoy the fact that Procudan is a smaller company where I can have different roles in different parts of the business. I get to use the many different subjects I've had in the mechanical engineering programme, he says.

Process optimisation at Procudan Blends is still a big part of Martin's everyday life. Not only technically but also practically and managerially, where he spends a lot of time on the production floor. This includes instructing new employees.

- It's great to be involved in the practical work. I'm happy to be where it creates value for us and our customers, he says.
