When ESG and procurement don't go hand in hand
When strategy and reality don't go hand in hand
More companies are working purposefully with ESG. Perhaps you are too. But even though the strategy is in place, we often see that practice lags behind.
Purchasers want to make choices that take ESG into account. Yet, they are assessed on the basis of price, delivery reliability and other familiar parameters. ESG is rarely included in either purchasing policy or KPIs – and therefore not in everyday life either.
We see good intentions drowned out by old routines. This creates hesitation and frustration.
When the desire to do something different meets resistance
Every week, we talk to purchasers who want to make a change. They ask for CO2 figures, documentation and professional sparring. But when faced with concrete choices, they lack support. The system around them rewards the safe and the familiar. Not what drives ESG.
Some lack clear guidelines. Others lack a mandate. And many lack access to the data that makes it possible to act.
We know this well. At Procudan, we are working hard to obtain more data – both on products and on ourselves. We are not there yet, but we are making progress. And we are happy to share what we know and can document.

It's not about what you can buy
It's about what you are measured on. Only when procurement, ESG managers and management sit down together, things will start to move. The task must be solved internally – but we can help you qualify your considerations along the way.
As your partner, we want to know: How can we best support your goals?
We don't start with ready-made answers. We start with a professional dialogue and ask the questions that are often forgotten:
How can you start making different choices?
What do you need from your suppliers?
If you recognise this dilemma from your everyday life, please contact us.
